As a student in India, you´ll have plenty of time to explore this fascinating country in your holidays. Whether you´re into beaches, ancient architecture, hiking in nature or big city living, there´s something for you in India. The best option? See a little bit of everything.

Top destinations

The Taj Mahal

Probably the most popular tourist destination in India, the Taj Mahal is not to be missed. One of the wonders of the modern world, the Taj Mahal was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, who ordered it to be erected in memory of his favourite wife, Mumtz Mahal. This building is a monument to Islamic architecture, and is set in exquisite garden surroundings.

Pristine beaches in Goa

If you´re looking for a holiday by the sea in India, Goa is probably your top destination. Goa is a small paradise, nestled between lush forested hills and the sea. See glistening sands, coconut palms swaying in the sea breeze, and experience ultra-fresh seafood cooked Indian style. Just don´t forget your sunscreen and a pair of sunglasses.

See the big cats

Corbett National Park is in the foothills of the Kumoan Himalayas, just a stone´s throw away from the popular summer retreat Naintal. This is one of the most impressive safe havens for Indian wildlife, and will give you a chance to glimpse tigers among the park´s mammoth Sal trees. Corbett National Park boasts 110 species of trees, 580 bird species, and 50 mammal species.

Mumbai: city life at its best

For city life at its best, Mumbai is possibly the best destination in India. Hotel rooms are quite expensive, and need to be booked in advance, but seeing the city is well worth the price. Some highlights include Chor Bazaar (translation: Thieves´ Market, so keep your backpack close) for antiques, Haji Ali Mosque, Cowpatty Beach, Jehangir Art Gallery, and Esselworld amusement park.
